I’ve been working for a while curating this concert for MATA and now it’s almost here. PLAY! will showcase new works for toy piano, balloons, music boxes, vintage toys and electronics with performances by the new music group TRANSIT, balloon artist Judy Dunaway, vocalist Jennifer Walshe, percussionist Douglas Perkins and very special guest Margaret Leng Tan, pioneer in the use of toy instruments.   Tristan Perich will be premiering a new piece for three toy pianos and three-channel 1-bit tones and TRANSIT will also be premiering my new piece “What I’m Trying To Say Is…” which features a Speak & Spell toy!  You can read my curatorial statement for this concert here.
