drawing music

I haven’t been able to write as much as I would like here ’cause I’ve been busy drawing music and playing with spoons, erasers and harp strings with Irantzu but soon I’ll have some free time to write something that makes at least some sense.

Meanwhile some quick news:

The NYU Symphony Orchestra concert was great and you can now listen to the live recording of “What Keeps Me Awake” conducted by Guerguan Tsenov in the works page.

I’m working on a collaboration with Julio from Y No Habia Luz for my recital. Expect some more underwater music from someone who still hasn’t learned how to swim.

jumping straight back to reality

It’s been a long time since the last time I wrote here but a lot of good and exciting things have happened. Balún had a bunch of shows in NYC and Chicago and we had a blast. I got accepted to participate in EAMA’s Paris Summer Music Program in Composition.  I’m extremely excited about this since I’ve never been to Paris before and also Sofia Gubaidulina is going to be the guest artist this year! Also, the NYU Symphony Orchestra will be performing my new piece for orchestra “What Keeps Me Awake” in April 28. And last but not least I’m preparing/going crazy with my graduation recital which is going to be on May 17 at 7pm in the Black Box Theater at NYU. One month to go, a thousand things left to do. It’s going to be fun though.

bridges and balúns

messiaen was magical as always and cynthia millar on the ondes martenot was brilliant! lots of good concerts in the next two weeks here in the city. i forgot to buy my kronos quartet tickets early and now surprise!..it’s sold out.
anyways i’m still very excited about matmos, alarm will sound, zeena parkins and some more messiaen!

on other news i’ve been writing a piece for harp and electronics for my friend irantzu agirre which is having her carnegie hall debut this next saturday. she’s amazing so if you have a chance go check out her recital.

i’m also working on a piece for the nyu symphony orchestra which will be premiered later in spring.

my best friends are coming to town in two weeks for some balún shows (check events on this page). i can’t wait to see them and eat lots of candy with them.
